From the Wyo Stays team. General guidance — follow your tub manufacturer's and local health guidelines.
The hot tub is your highest-ROI amenity in Wyoming — and your highest-risk one. Guests judge it instantly, and a neglected tub is both a review-killer and a liability. Here's the routine that keeps it guest-ready and safe.
Every turnover
- Test and balance water — sanitizer (chlorine/bromine), pH, alkalinity to target ranges
- Skim and wipe the waterline and surround
- Check clarity — cloudy or smelly water fails instantly; drain/refill if needed
- Confirm cover is clean, intact, and secured (safety + heat retention)
- Photograph the clean tub (proof for your turnover record)
Weekly / between-guest deeper care
- Rinse or rotate filters
- Check jets, lights, and temperature (set to a safe, guest-ready temp)
- Inspect the cover and lifter for wear
Monthly / periodic
- Deep-clean or replace filters
- Full drain, clean, and refill on a schedule (typically every 1–3 months with use)
- Inspect equipment; log any issues
Safety (non-negotiable)
- Post rules: no glass, supervise children, max soak time, no use while impaired
- Cover locked when not in use
- Clear signage on temperature and safe entry/exit
- Note it in your welcome book and confirm your insurance covers it (see The STR Insurance Guide)
The reality: a spotless, hot, ready tub earns five stars; a green or broken one earns a refund request. Assign it to every turnover and never wing it.
