    Most homes inside Sheridan city limits are powered by Montana-Dakota Utilities (MDU). Out in the county and rural Bighorn foothills, that's often Powder River Energy Corporation (PRECorp), a local cooperative. Electric can take a few business days to activate, so it's the first one to set up.

    Natural gas across the Sheridan area is delivered by Montana-Dakota Utilities (MDU). If your rental heats with gas, you'll want this connected before the first cold snap rolls down off the mountains.

    Water, Sewer & Trash

    Water, sewer, refuse, and recycling for in-city homes run through the City of Sheridan Utilities Department (307-674-6483), supplied by Sheridan Area Water Supply. A handful of county districts bill separately — your portal will tell you which applies to your address.
