Family-Friendly Cabins in Sheridan, Wyoming
Cabins built for the long summer days, the multi-generation reunion, and the kind of trip your kids will tell their kids about.
Sheridan Is the Sleeper Family Trip of the West
Most family-vacation conversations in this part of the country start with Yellowstone or Jackson and end with sticker shock and gridlocked summer crowds. Sheridan offers a different version of the same Western trip — wildlife, mountains, ranches, rodeos — with shorter lines, lower prices, and a town that still works the way small Western towns are supposed to work.
Cabins make that trip better. Hotel rooms split families up. Cabin layouts let kids have a bunk room while the adults have a kitchen, a porch, and a real evening. Add fire pits, big windows, and the kind of stargazing that genuinely impresses ten-year-olds.
What Family Cabins in the Collection Offer
Family-friendly cabins in our collection generally include multi-bedroom layouts (often with a dedicated bunk room), fully equipped kitchens with family-sized cookware, washer and dryer, streaming TV, and outdoor space — porches, decks, fire pits — for the hours that matter most.
Cribs, high chairs, and additional beds can usually be arranged in advance with a quick note at booking. Several properties offer game tables, board game collections, and the kind of evening-activity infrastructure that makes a long stay feel longer in a good way.

Summer brings the WYO Rodeo, the Sheridan County Fair, polo matches at the Big Horn Equestrian Center, and the Bighorn Mountain trails. Kids who've never seen a working rodeo tend to remember it for the rest of their lives.
Year-round, Trail End State Historic Site (the restored Kendrick mansion and gardens) is an underrated stop. The Sheridan public pool runs through the summer; the city ice rink runs through the winter. Kendrick Park has a classic playground and an old-fashioned ice cream stand that doubles as the unofficial post-rodeo gathering spot.
For day trips, Devils Tower is roughly two and a half hours east, Little Bighorn Battlefield about an hour north — both manageable as a single-day outing from a Sheridan cabin.
Family Cabin FAQ
Which cabins are best for families?+
The collection includes properties with multiple bedrooms, family-sized kitchens, and outdoor space — from cozy two-bedroom cabins for a quick getaway to larger homes that comfortably host extended family. Call (307) 312-9656 and we'll match the right cabin to your group's age range and trip length.
Can you provide a crib or pack-and-play?+
Yes, in most cabins, with advance notice. Add the request to your booking or call (307) 312-9656 and we'll have it ready before you arrive.
What's the best base for a family trip with kids?+
Foothills cabins in Story or Dayton give kids open ground, creek access, and a 10-to-25-minute drive to Bighorn National Forest trailheads. Cabins inside Sheridan put you close to Kendrick Park, the public pool, and the rodeo grounds. Both work — the right one depends on your kids' ages and how much driving you want to do.
Are the cabins safe for young kids?+
Cabins in our collection are inspected before every stay, but they're real homes — fireplaces, stairs, and kitchens are part of the package. We can flag the most kid-friendly layouts on a quick call. (307) 312-9656.
What family activities are nearby?+
The WYO Rodeo (July) is the headline event for kids. Year-round, families gravitate to the Sheridan County Museum, Trail End State Historic Site, the public pool and ice rink, Kendrick Park's old-fashioned playground and ice cream stand, and easier Bighorn National Forest hikes like Tongue River Canyon. Trail rides at local ranches are bookable spring through fall.
