WYO Rodeo Parade 2027: Route, Chairs, Parking and What to Bring

The Sheridan WYO Rodeo parade runs Friday, July 16, 2027, at 10 a.m. It starts at North Main and Dow, goes south on Main to Works, west one block, and back north on Brooks to Dow. Chairs can't go out before 5 p.m. Thursday, July 15.

Parade route and where to watch

Route as posted for 2027 (same loop as 2026). From the rodeo's parade page:

"The parade route will begin on North Main at Dow Street and head south to Works Street. It will then turn right (West) on Works Street and turn right again on Brooks Street to head north. The parade will end at Brooks and Dow Streets."

The route is a long, narrow loop: about seven blocks down Main, one block on Works, seven blocks back up Brooks. Main Street is where most people watch. Brooks runs parallel one block west, and the whole parade passes there too.

Saving a spot: the City rule. In June 2026 the City of Sheridan adopted Resolution 13-26:

"No person shall place chairs, benches, coolers, signs, or other personal property upon any public sidewalk, curb, street, alley, or public right-of-way along the WYO Rodeo Parade route prior to 5:00 p.m. on the day immediately preceding the parade."

What that means for 2027, if the resolution stands:

• Chairs go out no earlier than 5 p.m. Thursday, July 15.
• Leave at least 5 feet of clear sidewalk for people walking through.
• No ropes, tape lines, barricades, tents or platforms without the City's written OK.
• A chair doesn't reserve the spot. The resolution says placement "shall not constitute ownership, reservation, or exclusive use of any public space."
• Items put out early "may be removed by authorized personnel without prior notice."

2026 categories and fees, for reference only (2026 entry form). Fees were "based on a PER MOTOR rate (car, truck, ATV, UTV, etc.)."

In 2026, forms were mailed with the fee to Sheridan WYO Rodeo Parade Committee, PO Box 742, Sheridan, WY 82801, or submitted online through the parade page. The 2026 prizes were a $250 grand prize, plus $100, $50 and $25 in each category.

The rodeo's rules for entries (as posted):

• "NO candy or any other objects may be thrown, tossed, rolled or otherwise distributed from ANY parade entry. Participants may distribute items hand-to-hand while walking route alongside the moving entry."
• "NO stopping along the parade route for performances!"
• "All children must be accompanied by an adult."
• "No merchandise may be sold along the parade route."
• Horses and riders must be parade-ready. "Any rider or animal that may potentially injure themselves or others will be asked to leave the parade route."
• "Loose livestock is not permitted."

Line-up: in 2026, entries picked up line-up instructions Tuesday of rodeo week, 11 a.m.–2 p.m., at 101 S. Main St. On parade day entries were in position 8–9:30 a.m. For 2027 that Tuesday is July 13 (Expected. The parade page lists the day, not the date).

What you can bring to the rodeo grounds

These are the rodeo's rules for the fairgrounds and grandstands. The parade on Main Street is on public streets, and the City rule above applies there.

"No coolers, backpacks or large bags allowed. Purses and diaper bags subject to inspection."
"Only service dogs allowed. Please call the box office for additional policies."

• Kids: "Guests three (3) years of age and older are required to have a ticket for entry every evening of the WYO Rodeo." "Children two (2) years of age and under may sit on the lap of their parent/guardian during the performance." (FAQ)
• Accessible seating: "Guests with accessibility needs must bring their own wheelchairs in which to sit." "One companion per accessible guest is allowed, and they must also provide their own seat." "There is no elevator." "There is a handicap accessible ramp on the north end of the grandstands." (FAQ)
• Dogs: if your dog is traveling with you and isn't a service dog, plan for it to stay behind during performances.

Parking and the shuttle

From the rodeo's FAQ, word for word:

"Parking is available at the fairgrounds but limited and reserved for select groups."
"Yes, parking is available but limited and reserved for select groups inside the fairgrounds. Parking attendants will direct you to handicap areas."
"The fairgrounds is a gravel lot."
"Shuttle info is released each year on our Facebook page during rodeo week. *No alcoholic beverages allowed on the bus."

The FAQ lists a Sheridan High School parking and shuttle service. Shuttle times and details are posted each year on the rodeo's Facebook page during rodeo week.

We don't map or recommend parking lots we don't control. For parade morning, the City posts street-closure notices before the event. There is no 2027 notice yet; we'll link it here when it's out.

Walking and drive times from downtown

Things to think about

• Chairs from home. Put them out Thursday at 5 p.m. or later, not before. Take a photo of where you set them.
• The morning is full. In 2026 the pancake breakfast (6–9 a.m., Grinnell Plaza) and the Sneakers & Spurs 5K (8 a.m., Main St) came before the parade, and the First Peoples' Pow Wow followed at noon. 2027 times aren't posted yet. See our 2027 schedule tracker.
• Horses and noise. The parade has mounted riders, horse-drawn wagons, bands, and entries that mark "loud noise" on their forms. Small kids and dogs may want a spot farther back.
• No thrown candy. The rule is hand-to-hand only. Kids stay at the curb and walkers come to them.
• Sun. It's July at 10 a.m. Bring water, hats and sunscreen to the parade. If you head to the rodeo afterward, leave the cooler and backpack behind. They can't come onto the grounds.
• Two rulebooks. The City's rule covers the street; the rodeo's rules cover the fairgrounds. Pack for the stricter one if you're heading from one to the other.
